Our Community Forestry Committee (loving known as "the tree board" I learned after being appointed) has started up again and we will document our activities and ideas here.
thank you Chad for getting our nursery bed in shape. I look forward to plantings this fall with the trees acquired from the Whatcom Conservation District annual sale this spring.
the trees patiently wait for fall.....
here are some photos showing the overgrown bed and the tidy end results
Alcoa workers volunteered many hours and accomplished several great plantings and cleanups in Ferndale on this day of service for these community projects sponsored by the Ferndale Heritage Society.
here is a playlist of 3 sites in Ferndale that recieved clean-up and planting on this day of service....
The trees were planted !!!! Our day started with heavy rain. Then the rain stopped and teams of great volunteers planted and staked up many trees in Pioneer Park. WOW! Thanks to everyone who participated. We had coffee and donuts and I, for one, had a great time.
Here are a few shots throughout the planting. Unfortunately my new camera either doesn't work as well as the old one or I have a learning curve in my future. In any case, the photos aren't as good as I would like, but that never stops me from posting them.
We made a trip to Urban Forest Nursery, Inc. in Mt. Vernon and Jim and his beautiful Newfoundland had some good recommendations for us. We also visited Christianson's Nursery to get some tree ideas for the Main St. planters.
