Arbor Day- Earth Day Celebration

The trees were planted !!!! Our day started with heavy rain. Then the rain stopped and teams of great volunteers planted and staked up many trees in Pioneer Park. WOW!
Thanks to everyone who participated.
We had coffee and donuts and I, for one, had a great time.

Here are a few shots throughout the planting. Unfortunately my new camera either doesn't work as well as the old one or I have a learning curve in my future. In any case, the photos aren't as good as I would like, but that never stops me from posting them.

Here is the process of planting each tree. It was sure nice to have such efficient, capable teams!!

our trip south to look at trees....

We made a trip to Urban Forest Nursery, Inc. in Mt. Vernon and Jim and his beautiful Newfoundland had some good recommendations for us. We also visited Christianson's Nursery to get some tree ideas for the Main St. planters.

We plotted out the planting of over 25 new trees in Pioneer Park on a cold "spring" morning.

catching up...

Here are a few photos taken last November at the Bergsma house where Bertella, Jon and I selected trees we would keep to transplant this month at Pioneer Park. The trees have grown too large for easy transplant so we took some out and will make the best effort we can to transplant some. Bertella and I also looked at some other trees around town.

We are looking forward to our coming replanting of trees..
